A little help, whenever you need it
Your first gift, one step at a time.
Choose a design, make the pages personal, and check the whole surprise before you share it. Keep this guide beside your editor or jump straight to the part you need.

Choose the design before you start
Pick a story that suits the person and the kind of memories you want to share.
- Open Templates and browse the four collections: your person, friends, family, and big days.
- Read the design details. Photo arrangements, video, voice notes, and interactions differ between templates.
- Select “Try [design name] free.” If you are signed in, select “Use [design name]” to create a draft in your studio.
Try another design from Templates if you want a different story structure. Choosing a new design starts a separate gift; it does not convert the gift you are editing.

Make one page personal
Start with the writing and photos on the page you have selected.
- On a computer, choose Edit this page if you are in the style controls. On a phone, choose Edit page.
- Replace the example names, messages, questions, and letter with your own. Use the fields shown for that page; the preview changes as you edit.
- For a story with several notes, rooms, eras, or other memories, select the item you want to change before editing its fields.
- Most changes save automatically. If a memory has a Save these words button, select it. Check the save message before leaving; resolve any Save needs attention message first.
The design is guided, not a blank canvas. Text fields, photo controls, and options shown in the editor are editable; decorative parts without a control belong to the design.

Step 4 of 7
Add and position your photos
Use the upload control where you want the photo to appear.
- Select the relevant page or memory, then use its photo upload control. Check the format and size limits shown there.
- Where an opening-photo layout is available, select a photo to position it and adjust Size, Zoom, or Tilt. Check how it looks in the preview.
- Use the controls provided for that particular surface. Some designs use fixed photo frames instead of freely positioned opening photos.
A guest preview supports up to four compressed photos on the same device. Create a verified account to keep the draft in your studio and use the full supported media options. Guest work expires after 24 hours without use.

Change the look of the whole gift
Style settings affect more than the page you are looking at.
- Select Style your gift on a computer, or Gift style on a phone.
- Look & feel holds the available colors, typography, photos, and decorative settings.
- Pages & story lets you name pages and choose whether to include the little-question moment. Current authored designs keep their signature story order.
- Motion & extras holds the available page transitions, pace, navigation, and interactive options. Use the full recipient preview to check transitions in motion.
Options vary by design. A setting that is not shown is not supported on that template; adding a style does not add video or voice-note capability to it.

Step 6 of 7
Try it as the recipient
Check the whole journey, not just the page currently in the editor.
- Select Preview gift on a computer or View gift on a phone. Ready to send also offers Preview from the beginning.
- Open the wrapping, move through the pages, answer your questions, and read the final letter. Check names, captions, and photo framing.
- Close the full preview to return to your editor. Make any corrections and check the save message again.
Previewing does not publish your gift or create a shareable recipient link. Check it on a phone as well as a computer before sharing.

Step 7 of 7
Save, publish, and send
Ready to send is the final check before publication.
- Open Ready to send and review the personal-touch suggestions. If you started as a guest, create or sign in to a verified account to keep the draft.
- When satisfied, follow the checkout and publication steps shown for your gift. Publishing costs US $39 one time, plus applicable tax; building and previewing are free.
- After publication, copy the recipient link from the sharing controls. If you set a recipient PIN, send the PIN separately.
The unlisted link is hosted for 90 days from first publication. Editing later keeps the same original expiry date. A preview link or an editor address is not the recipient’s share link.
